Setting up our Server Software on Windows
For FileMaker Pro Server to
function
the operating system must be one of the following:
- Windows NT (SP3 or greater)
- Windows 2000 Professional
- Windows 2000 Server
- Windows XP Professional
Use
the FileMaker Pro Server Installation CD to install the
software.
The "installation code" is on the outside of the sleeve. You will need
to
have this code ready
After the software is installed, it creates a folder called FileMaker
Pro
Server in the Program Files directory. It also installs a Control
Panel that use use to change the setting of FileMaker Pro Server.
- It is assumed that your network
has been
properly setup using the TCP/IP network protocol. Each machine must be
assigned it own IP address. For consistancy sake, the server's IP
address should be 192.168.100.100 and each subsequent computer
on the network has a different IP address.
- Move
the PracticeMaker® files into the FileMaker Pro Server
folder.
- Install a copy of the FileMaker Pro
5.5 application on the server, too. This is required for technical
support reasons, even though you will not use the server as a
workstation.

the various setting of FileMaker Server for Windows.
